Role Summary
As a key member of the leadership team, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will be responsible for shaping and executing the company’s technology strategy in full alignment with business goals. Reporting to the Integrator, the CTO will work closely with the Visionary to understand the broader vision and translate it into a scalable, efficient, and forward-thinking technology roadmap. This individual must collaborate with current team members and legacy system contributors to understand existing processes, the rationale behind past decisions, and the real-world ways the business operates day-to-day. They must be capable of identifying when change is necessary, yet remain grounded and open-minded — making changes only when they lead to meaningful, measurable gains. The CTO will oversee a growing technology team (currently under 10), with responsibility to scale via in-house hiring, outsourcing, or third-party solutions as needed. Key success metrics include fast turnaround time, high quality of work, and cost efficiency — all measured by how effectively the technology helps the company save money or deliver a better customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Evaluation and Integration
Identify and implement off-the-shelf tools or platforms that enhance automation, operational efficiency, and customer experience. Lead adoption and ensure smooth integration across teams.
ERP Consolidation Strategy
Build and execute a roadmap to unify the company’s core software systems under a single ERP or integrated platform, including scoping, vendor selection, implementation, and change management.
Interim Systems Integration
Design and oversee short-term solutions to ensure data and workflow alignment across current systems until ERP implementation is complete, minimizing manual effort, mistakes, and the risk of data falling through the cracks or generating inaccuracies.
Software Utilization Optimization
Conduct a thorough audit of existing software tools, systems, and custom-built reports that have already been developed and paid for but are underutilized or forgotten. Identify overlooked functionality and ensure these resources are fully leveraged across the organization. Develop and execute a plan to educate teams, realign processes, and unlock the full value of prior investments to avoid waste and redundancy.
Innovation and Competitive Edge
Be the internal “tech scout” — actively search for and explore cutting-edge technology trends, including AI, automation, and other innovations. Stay constantly informed by reading industry material, attending trade shows, networking with peers, and researching best practices. Lead the charge on piloting and evaluating new ideas that can give the company an edge and ensure the business remains ahead of competitors.
IT Infrastructure and Security
Oversee all internal IT functions including networking, user support, cybersecurity, and physical security systems (e.g., surveillance). Ensure a secure, stable, and scalable tech foundation.
Code Quality and Team Output
Ensure that all software development — whether done in-house, offshore, or through third parties — meets high standards of code quality, maintainability, and documentation. Code must be written in a way that allows for easy future updates or changes. The CTO is also accountable for the speed and quality of output from the technology team, ensuring that deliverables solve real business problems and drive meaningful results.
Data Alignment, Sync, and Collection Strategy
Ensure that all systems maintain 100% data alignment and real-time syncing where applicable, with zero tolerance for discrepancies that could lead to operational errors or reporting gaps. In addition, the CTO is responsible for proactively identifying opportunities to collect meaningful, actionable data throughout the organization — ensuring the company has the visibility it needs to make smarter, faster decisions.
